From the time I picked up "The Mapmaker's Children"  by Sarah McCoy I was hooked.  My love of this book started with the cover.  It drew me in and I wanted to know more. The Mapmaker's Children is two stories merged into one.  One story takes place in 1859 with Sarah Brown, abolitionist John Brown's daugher and modern day Eden Anderson.  Sarah McCoy beautifully weaves each story individually but always with the hint that somehow the two merge into one.  In the beginning I was a little confused by the going back and forth between the stories.  I would have to remember who an individual was in each story.  As more details of their individual lives emerged I was able to easily transition between the stories.  There were interesting similarities in the stories.  One being both women suffered from infertility.  I enjoyed reading how each woman dealt with this situation differently but with strength and courage.  Both stories take place in Charlestown but 150 years apart.  I also really enjoyed learning more about the underground railroad and how Sarah Brown used her creativity in helping them out.  I loved the ending where we finally learn how the stories are connected.  I would highly recommend this book to anybody interested in historical fiction with a romance mixed in.  I received this book free for my honest review.
